Relaying 1930’s oak parquetry before sanding and refinishing
Landmark project completed Spring 2021. After discovering a beautiful oak parquet floor under an old linograph covering, the Museum contacted our team to remove the loose, defective block and begin the restoration process. After getting rid of the bitumen adhesive on the flooring and sealing the subfloor, the block was relaid before extensive sanding. Any gaps in the parquetry were filled to prevent any water ingress in this commercial venue.
The final steps were to coat the refurbished floor with a primer and 3 coats of the highest quality two part commercial lacquer ensuring durability for many years to come.

Spring 2026. Rory and the team restored the stage frontage within the main theatre hall. The beautiful Irokko wood was reacting with the previous coating and had to be removed before refinishing. Maintaining a dust free environment was critical with so much sound and lighting equipment nearby. Despite its challenges, the team delivered fantastic results that may (or may not!) be noticed by theatre goers in Belfast.

Working for the National Trust in Spring 2026, we took on the challenge of refinishing the floors in a busy gift-shop area while minimising the downtime and loss of trade to a popular tourist destination. The team worked long hours to deliver the project on time and delivered fantastic results bringing a well worn oak floor back from the brink to like-new condition.
